Office IT Relocation in London
Planning, disconnection and reconnection for office moves — computers, servers, cabling, broadband and Wi-Fi, sequenced so you lose as little working time as possible
Last updated: August 2026
The IT side of an office move, planned rather than improvised
Removal firms move furniture. Almost none of them will unplug a server, label a patch panel, or ring your broadband provider — and that is precisely where office moves come unstuck. In our experience the computers are rarely the problem: they travel fine and plug back in. What goes wrong is connectivity. A line ordered three weeks before the move that turns out to need an eight-week installation, a new floor with no data points, or a Wi-Fi setup nobody thought about until forty people arrived and tried to use it at once. We survey both premises, work out the order things have to happen in, get the long-lead items started early, then disconnect, reconnect and test so your first morning in the new office is an ordinary working day.
What every office it relocation job includes
Established and insured
We have run our Putney workshop for over 25 years and the business is fully insured — worth knowing when someone is coming into your home or office. Security and network work is led by a CISSP-certified consultant.
Same-day turnaround is available on many jobs — ask when you book and we will confirm availability and any additional cost before we start.
What an Office IT Relocation Includes
Survey & Move Plan
We walk both premises — the one you are leaving and the one you are taking on — and produce a written plan: what moves, what gets replaced, what has to be ordered now, and the order everything happens in. This is the part that decides whether the move is calm or chaotic.
Disconnect, Label & Reconnect
Computers, monitors, docks, servers and NAS boxes shut down properly, labelled so they go back where they belong, and reconnected and tested at the other end. Your removals company handles the furniture; we handle everything with a cable coming out of it.
Servers, NAS & Shared Storage
The kit that everything else depends on gets treated accordingly: a verified backup before it is touched, a controlled shutdown, careful transport, and a checked start-up at the new site. If shared files or line-of-business systems live on it, we test access before we call it done.
Network & Cabling at the New Site
Data points where the desks are actually going, Cat5e or Cat6 runs terminated into a patch panel, a switch that can take the load, and tidy cable management in the comms cupboard. Far easier to do before the furniture arrives than after.
Broadband & Wi-Fi Transfer
The single most common cause of a bad first morning. We check what is available at the new address, get the line ordered early enough for the provider's real timescales, plan the overlap with your old connection, and configure the router, firewall and access points before anyone sits down.
Printers, Peripherals & First-Day Checks
Printers and scanners reconnected and re-shared, phones and tablets pointed at the new Wi-Fi, docks and displays tested at each desk, and a walk round on the first morning to catch the handful of things that always turn up once people actually start working.
How an Office Move Works
Simple steps to get your problem solved quickly and professionally.
Survey
We visit both sites, count desks and devices, look at where the incoming line lands and where the comms cupboard is, and check what cabling already exists. You get a written scope and a quote from that, not from a phone call.
Order Early
Broadband, any new cabling, and hardware that needs replacing get started immediately, because these are the items with real lead times. Everything else is scheduled backwards from the date your connection will genuinely be live.
Move
Old site shut down and disconnected in a set order; kit labelled and transported; new site cabled, connected and configured. Where it is possible we build and test the new network before the old one comes down.
First Morning
We are there when your team arrives to sort the inevitable last few things — a desk that will not print, a phone that will not join the Wi-Fi, someone whose dock came back in the wrong box.
What to Expect

Broadband: the thing that most often goes wrong
If an office move goes badly, this is usually why. Almost everything else can be rushed at the last minute; the connection cannot:
- Order the line as soon as the address is confirmed — before the desks, before the signage, before anything else
- Check what the building can actually take: a fibre postcode checker tells you about the street, not about the riser inside the block
- Ask the landlord early whether a wayleave is required, because that is a legal step nobody can shortcut
- Where possible, keep the old connection live for a short overlap so there is never a day with nothing
- Assume the provider's earliest date is optimistic and plan a fallback for the first week
- Get the router, firewall and Wi-Fi configured in advance, so the only variable left is the line itself
We have seen far more moves derailed by an install date than by anything to do with the computers.
How we sequence a move to protect your working time
The aim is that the new office is already working before the old one stops. Where the timing allows, we build in this order:
Build the new site first
Cabling, switch, router, firewall and access points installed and tested at the new premises while you are still trading normally at the old one. Nothing here needs your business to stop.
Prove the connection
The new line is tested for real — not just showing a light — before anyone commits to a move date. If it is not ready, we would rather know a fortnight early than on the Saturday.
Move the shared kit
Server, NAS and anything else the whole team depends on goes across in one controlled step, with a verified backup taken first and access tested at the far end before we move on.
Move the desks
Individual computers, monitors and docks are labelled per person so they come back together, which removes most of the first-morning confusion in one stroke.
Test desk by desk
Every position checked for network, printing and sign-in before your team arrives, rather than leaving people to discover the gaps themselves.
How much of that is possible depends on your dates and the landlord's access arrangements, which is exactly what the survey establishes.
What we need from you before the survey
A short list, and having it ready makes the quote quicker and more accurate:
- The new address, the target move date, and how firm that date is
- A floor plan or a rough sketch of where desks and the comms cupboard will go
- Headcount now and expected headcount in a year, so cabling and switch capacity are not undersized on day one
- Who your current broadband is with, on what contract, and when it ends
- Whether there is a server, NAS or anything else the whole team depends on
- Any equipment you already plan to replace rather than move
- Landlord or building-management contact details for access and any wayleave
If you do not have all of it, do not wait — the survey will fill the gaps, and starting the broadband conversation early matters more than having a complete list.
Not sure what you need? We're happy to help.
Office IT Relocation Pricing
We quote per site after a survey rather than publishing a headline figure, because a six-desk move and a forty-desk move over two floors have almost nothing in common. The survey covers both premises and produces a written scope, so you can see exactly what is included and what is not before you commit. Cabling, hardware and any broadband or line charges are itemised separately rather than buried in a single number.
